Economy finally exiting its funk

News

Well today was a big day for the economy. Oil dropped nearly $3 a barrel and is now at its 7 week low of $122. They say once it goes below $120 it should cruise down to $100. There was a 5.4 earthquake that hit California today around noon. There was no major damage but this is a reminder that the big one is still out there. I dont know if anybody watches the news anymore but Edie Huggins from nbc10 died today after a lengthy illness. Also, Bennigans filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy today and will shut its doors.

Sports

Well the Phillies seem to be back on pace they won their 3rd in a row tonight and are now only a half game out of first. The Eagles are now at Lehigh University at summer camp its that time of year again football starts this Sunday with the hall of fame game. I think this will be a very succesful year for the birds.

Politics

I have realclearpolitics.com in my favorite places and check it at least 5 times a day. The site shows about 6 of the biggest polls in the presidential election and averages it out. This was the first time I have seen McCain lead in any of the polls. He is now only trailing Obama in the average of all 6 polls by 2.5%. I cant wait to see who each of them picks for their VP that actually might make a difference this year.

Weather

There is approx. 31 days left untill Sept. and I CANNOT wait I cant stand this weather and its supposed to get much worse this weekend with temps into the upper 90's. I cant wait to see what kind of storms will be rolling in early next week to break this weather pattern. This has been a very violent season for storms around here.

Well I will be going for now. Have a great day.

Vacation

Since I wont have vacation until Sept. we have been looking for a place to vacation. Our number one choice is Vermont for a stay at a bed and breakfast. Our second choice is to the baseball hall of fame in Cooperstown,NY. Please let me know if you have any recommendations. I cannot wait to get this years election out of the way I just hope Americans are smart enough to know we are not ready for a president like Obama. He would definetly be the next Jimmy Carter and this country cant handle that right now.

Well the Phillies are safely in first place by 3 games. They are playing very well right now and I'm starting to get the feeling I had in 1993 when they went to the world series. Dont look now but the Eagles are only 2 months away from their first preseason game.

Oil is jumping by leaps and bounds I expect to see gas jump above $5 a gallon by the end of summer and God only knows what natural gas and heating oil will reach by next winter. This is a terrible time to take out a mortgage also that has jumped by near a half of percent in the past 3 days.

Well let me know if anyone has any ideas or links for a fall vacation.

First place Phillies, and the conference finals for the Flyers!!!!

Sports

Well its been quite a month for our local teams the Phillies are in first place but its way too early to get excited. The Flyers are rolling along like I first called with the hot goalie anything can happen and now they are 8 wins from bringing us our first parade down Broad Street since the 1980 Phillies. LETS GO FLYERS!!!!

Politics

It appears Barack Obama has wrapped things up for the democrats. He won NC by a landslide and almost won Indiana. So if there is any chance for Obama to win in November Hillary should drop out soon.

Television

We just watched one of the best movies we've ever seen from Netflix last night P.S. I Love You. WOW that was an emotional roller coaster if you have any Irish in your blood you MUST see this movie. It was FANTASTIC!!

Big series for the Phillies

Sports

It all begins today the race for the N.L. East crown. The Phillies open up a 3 game series with the mighty Mets at 1 today. The Braves lost a tough game last night to the Rockies so now the Phillies are in first place with 3 wins and 4 losses;) Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished in 12th place on Sunday and remains in the top 5 in points. The Flyers start their playoff run on Friday night against the Capitols. They have a very hot goalie right now and that's how you win Stanley Cups.

News/Politics

Well Obama has opened up his lead on Hillary to 7% now. So it's looking like it will be Obama vs. McCain for the Presidency. Its going to be very interesting to see who each of them picks as their running mates. If the election were held today Obama would win by 1%.

Weather

It's been a little chilly around here the past couple of days, it was 76 in Pittsburgh yesterday. It will take a couple of days to get here but it should be in the upper 70's by Thursday. I still have not received my thermometer yet but it should arrive today.

Family

Cecil,Pops will be staying with us for a while starting next week. We can't wait for that, will now have reality tv buddy;) The only problem being we are having a hard time keeping up with Dancing With The Stars and American Idol due to Big Brother and Biggest Loser. Oh well I guess if that's our toughest choice that's a good thing:0)

76ers and flyers are in the playoffs!!!!!

SPORTS

WOW the Flyers,76ers and Phillies all won tonight. The 76ers and the Flyers clinched playoff berths!! The Phillies won 8-4 tonight and are now 2-2 with a game tomorrow afternoon. They start a HUGE series on Tuesday with the Mets.

NEWS/POLITICS

Well oil keeps going through the roof it cost me $45 to fill up my little Honda the other day. Barack Obama has just taken the lead on Hillary in PA. Last week Hillary led him by double digits. It will all come down to who McCain picks as his running mate. I am really hoping for Mitt Romney at this point

WEATHER

Well this has been a boring time for the weather. I has been overcast and rainy for the past 3 days. I just won a Brookstone 5-day weather forecaster on ebay and it should be here next week. I can't wait!!!! I have been trying for this since the start of winter when we saw it in the Hamilton mall with Kim and the girls. Okay well I better get some sleep. I hope you all enjoy my new homepage (Thanks to Kim and Tim). See you all tomorrow.

Lets Play Ball!!!

Sports

Hey everyone I am up and watching MLB opening day on ESPN. The Boston Red Sox are playing the Oakland A's in Tokyo,Japan. The game started at 6am EST but it was 7pm in Tokyo. The Sixers won a big game last night against the best team in the NBA Boston Celtics so they now have the number six position in the playoffs. The Phillies opening day is next Monday afternoon.

Weather

Well I guess the snow is gone until at least December. You cant blame me for hoping. It looks like we may get alot of rain this week. Today is supposed to be beautiful sunny with a high around 50.

News/Politics

Yesterday was a good day with the stock market it went up 170 points. Oil also had a good day dropping $3 a barrel to around $100 a barrel. The biggest news to me on the stock market was the fact the Sirius/XM merger is almost complete the only thing left to get through is the FCC. Yesterday was the last day to register to vote in PA for the April 22nd primary. Right now Hillary has a pretty big lead in PA. I think in the end Hillary will end up getting ripped off in Michigan and Florida she won both states with Barack not even being on the ballot in Michigan.

Television

We just watched the apprentice on DVR and Stephen Baldwin is fired. He was one of my favorites I will now root for Trace Adkins. Oh well I hope to catch up with everyone tonight. I have my first softball practice tonight so hopefully I will not be in the emergency room.

Keeping the fingers crossed for some snow

Weather

Hey there everybody it getting a little late but I must post on what I've seen in the latest GFS model run for tonight. Earlier runs in the night showed the clipper on Friday and Saturday could be too strong with about 1-3 inches of snow and therefore steal the energy from the bigger storm on Monday. Well this latest run has the clipper much weaker and showing the storm on Monday going just enough off the coast to bring quite a bit of snow to our area. Well keep your fingers crossed.

Sports

Well the Flyers barely held on for a big win tonight and it appears Antero Nittymaki has won the number one goalie spot. I had a live fantasy draft tonight in Thorndale. That was my first live draft and I picked alot of Braves (Brian). The sixers play Allen Iverson tomorrow night in philly for the first time since the trade. Even though I wont be seeing much of the March Madness tournament due to 12 hour days at work for Easter I cant wait to see what Villanova can do.

News and Politics

Well it looks like that crack on the I-95 bridge will not take as long as thought it should be opened back up by Wednesday night but oh what a mess today was. The fed cut the main interest rate another three quarters of a point and the DJIA went up over 400 points today, what a ride this has been the last couple of weeks. Gas started dropping down towards $106 a barrel the last few days but today it exploded up over $3 a barrel. According to realclearpolitics.com which takes all polls into account Clinton has taken the lead over Obama overall by less than 1%. She also leads in PA by 11% so it looks like the tides may be turning. McCain now leads both Clinton and Obama by about 1%. Oh well I will hopefully see everyone on here tomorrow night. Talk to everyone soon.

Happy Saint Patty's Day

Sports

Hey there I hope everyone had a great St. Patty's Day!! Well things seem to be going quite well for our local college basketball teams. Villanova, Temple and St. Joes made it into the tournament. Just last week it looked like we would have none. The Sixers are still on there hot streak but their schedule gets really tough the last month of the season. The Phillies won one today with their green uniforms, there opening day is only 13 days away I cant wait!!!

News and Politics

Today was a little bit of a slow news day. They just had breaking news on ch. 10 news there is a huge crack in an overpass on I-95. The road will be closed around Girard ave. for quite a while that will cause a huge mess. The stock market recovered a little bit today with the feds cutting the prime rate again. If they didnt do that it could have been a horrible day with Bear Stearns the second largest bank around going out of business. Well it looks like Fla. wont be having a new primary so all those delegates will be decided at the convention. Is it me or does that state do anything to be able to have their votes counted twice. Pennsylvania will have a major say in who becomes the democratic nominee but I dont think it will be decided until the convention. The last time this happened was 1976 when Ronald Reagen and Gerald Ford was not decided until the convention. Well we know what happened there Jimmy Carter became president enough said.

Weather

Well beleive it or not eastern PA still has a few shots at snow in the next 10 days. There is a small system moving through tonight into tomorrow morning that might bring a few snow showers. Then on Saturday there will be a small clipper that may dump about an inch of snow. Saturday's snow will have alot to say what happens to Mondays storm if the clipper is too strong and we get 2-3 inches out of it then it will take some of the punch out of Mondays snow. If everything goes the way it is now we COULD POSSIBLY get 4+ inches of snow on Monday into Tuesday.

Television

Well we are still quite a bit behind on our DVR but it looks like Big Brother is really starting to get interesting with bringing James back into the house. Also I am very glad to see Omorosa off of the apprentice. Oh well thats all I have for now thanks for checking this out and hopefully talk to you soon.

Crazy day with the stock market

News

Today was wild day with the stock market the fed cut the main interest rate again and the DJIA went up about 450 points. It was at its lowest point in 3 years before today. Oil prices went up to a new record today at $109 a barrel. Gas prices should go up another 0.10 a gallon by summer.

Well Obama was just announced the winner of Mississippi. It depends on how much he wins by as to how many delegates they each get. Both candidates have spent the last few days in Pennsylvania Barack was in Scranton and Hillary was at the Temple U.

Weather

Well as each model comes out this weekends snowstorm seems to going further and further north. Its just not cold enough for snow. I will never be so glad to see this la nina winter go away. El nino comes back next winter and with that there is usually alot of snow.

Sports

There really isn't much going on in sports tonight. The Flyers are ahead 2-0 after 2 periods. The Phillies had off today which is good since they have lost 5 in a row. March Madness starts next Thursday that is my favorite sporting event of the year. Although it doesn't appear there will be any local teams in it.

Television

It looks like all new episodes of primetime television will start next Monday. Although I look forward to that I really don't want the new shows going into summer since I have the MLB extra innings package summer means baseball and alot of it. There is about 60 games a week with the package and I could watch baseball from 7pm until 1am. Okay well that's enough rambling for tonight I will hopefully catch up with everyone tomorrow night. Until then have a good night.

Possible snow and those damn sixers!!!

I hope tonight finds everyone doing well. Well again the democrats have let us down I dont know if you all have heard about the governer of N.Y. but he was indicted in a internet prostitution ring. For the time being he has decided to not resign and try to build his families trust back while still in office.LOL!!!!! As far as the Clinton-Obama ticket...oops I mean faceoff tomorrow is another primary and what looks to be another win for Obama. But as far as PA looks right now Clinton is in the lead. According to realclearpolitics.com which takes all other polls into account Clinton would beat Mccain by 3% and Obama would beat him by 7%.

Well the sixers finally lost at home tonight to the best team in the NBA the Boston Celtics. OMG do I hate MA right now between the Pats,Celts,Sox and over 100 inches of snow..Damn them!!! The Phillies lost AGAIN thank God its still spring training.

There is still a chance for some snow this weekend. John Bolaris not that I take anything he says seriously said tonight that there is a CHANCE a storm moves off the coast and bombs out bringing us the colder and snowier solution. So as of right now I am still calling for 6-12 inches for Sat. night into Sunday. But we all know that wont work out. But if it does I told you first ;-).

Well as I continue to catch up on my dvr I have discovered I am quite a bit behind as far as idol is concerned. In the meantime I have heard about a male stripper as well as a possible prostitue. This season could mean alot more than bad singing.

Oh yeah tonight wing night had quite a little adventure. Boochy and I arrived up there around 6:30 and Erin,Walt,Erin's Mom and Sister were already there. Well anyway it took FOREVER to get our wings so Walt yelled at the waitress who said she would take a % off the bill. Well anyway a half hour later still no food so he flipped out on her and asked for the bill. Well anyway she went running through the kitchen crying and we left without wings. So Erin's Mom,sister,Boochy and I went to Applebees for dinner.

Anyway I hope we can all get together again soon. And everyone keep in touch.

Wild weather and the red hot Philadelphia 76ers!!!

Hey there everyone,I just wanted to touch on that wild weather we had the last few days. We went to visit with all of our family on Saturday which was a very nice time. On our way home the winds were so strong it actually blew the car all over the road. We didnt get home until almost 1am (which was actually 2am with daylight savings time). When we arrived home we discovered several very large branches strewn all over our front yard. Thankfully our house escaped any real damage. We are currently watching another potential winter storm for the middle of next week this storm could drop 6-12 inches of snow if everything works out but we all know how that works.

I also wanted to talk about how hot the Philadelphia 76ers have been lately they have not lost a game at home since Feb. 1st. They are now comfortably in a playoff spot. I am not a very big basketball fan but I will take whatever I can get in this town. The Phillies lost again in spring training that was their 3rd straight loss. There was some good news today Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished 3rd in the NASCAR race in Atlanta today which moved him up to 6th in the points race.

As far as politics goes there is no secret I am a diehard republican and am very happy with the way Hillary and Barack are beating the hell out of each other. I hope this thing takes all the way into summer to figure out who will win the nomination.

Thank You for reading my blog please feel free to leave comments and suggetions as to how I can make this more interesting to all.
